Paper Plan and Map GIS Conversion
In order to achieve more efficient database operations, Jerry Marquez helped the City of Durham, NC convert its paper project plans and inventory maps into digital GIS (Geographic Information Systems) files. Work involved applying a 'heads-up digitizing' process to create interim CAD files, which were then processed with GeoCon™, a CAD-to-GIS conversion tool.
The new GIS files were migrated into an ArcGIS GeoDatabase on-site, providing hyperlinking capability for storage and training use. Durham chose Mr. Marquez because of his leading-edge conversion techniques and expertise in today's expansive technology, especially in the AM/FM/GIS (automated mapping/facilities management GIS) industry.
The resulting comprehensive GIS system is one that the City of Durham can depend on for years to come. |
