GIS System Upgrade and Conversion
When Hillsborough County, FL opted to migrate files from an outdated GIS system and upgrade the backlog of all paper files into an all-new GIS database, they turned to Jerry Marquez for support. The scope of the work involved cataloguing older GIS files, then migrating them into the target ESRI default data-model using GeoCon™, a CAD-to-GIS conversion tool.
Paper plans and maps were scanned and added to the system and applied to the ‘heads-up digitizing’ process to build an interim CAD deliverable. This CAD product was also processed through GeoCon™ and combined with the initial GIS migration files to create an ArcGIS geodatabase, implemented on-site.
Following implementation, Mr. Marquez provided on-site training to staff to assure staff ownership of the project and instill confidence to maintain the new system. As a result, Hillsborough County now possesses both a leading edge GIS and the necessary skills to take advantage of all of its new features. |
