Map Conversion for Water, Sewer and Reclaimed Utilities
Indian River County Utilities managed a GIS for several years, but the data was linked to an outdated land base and never tied to the Florida State Plane Coordinate System, which limited their ability to share data. Jerry Marquez performed a pilot project to demonstrate data set conversion, migration, consolidation processes and integrity cleaning. The data was also spatially refined to the Florida State Plane Coordinate System and rectified using aerial photography.
This pilot produced a new dataset, built with proper network connectivity and loaded into a utility GIS geodatabase. It also used the ESRI default data-model, with project-specific modifications, to accommodate specific features.
Once completed, on-site training was conducted for staff.
Indian River's newly updated GIS is flexible in accordance with the utility's growing needs and will get regular updates through its new level of connectivity. |
