Pressure zones

The most effective pipe cleaning and maintenance program available for water distribution systems!

Unique in the industry, InfraMetrix's computerized UDF program results in immediate and long-term solutions to water quality concerns by systematically removing stagnant water and deposits that collect inside water mains.

Unlike traditional, reactive spot hydrant flushing that did not control water routing and utilized large quantities of water unnecessarily without achieving effective scour velocities, our UDF program is an effective tool for closely managing the systematic flushing of your water distribution system.

By merging your utility's GIS database and hydraulic model for the distribution system, our trained engineers use UDF software to generate the flushing sequences. The field journals produced show which fire hydrants and watermain valves should be manipulated to assure and optimize a proper cleaning.

For each flushing zone, an optimal program of flushing sequences is developed, and valves and fire hydrants are selected to facilitate systematic, unobstructed cleaning. The hydraulic impacts of each sequence are verified to avoid excessive pressure drops.

Steps in the UDF Program
+  database is prepared by merging the utility's GIS (or hard copy map) and hydraulic model data
+ program of flushing sequences developed for each flushing zone
+  Aqua Cad (R) UDF software used for piping configuration, sequence ordering and optimized selection of valves and hydrants to be used
+ hydraulic impact of flushing sequences verified to avoid pressure drops below 20 psi throughout system while providing a minimum water velocity of 5 ft/sec for flush sequence
+  field journal prepared with numbered graphical flush sequences and technical data sheets
+  minimal flushing time developed in accordance with flow measured at hydrants
